Sudan and the conflict in Uganda
Sudan-Uganda, Politics, 5/20/2002

The Sudanese minister of Labor and administrative reforms Lt. Gen. Alsoun Manaya stressed that 210 Sudanese were killed from the conflict taking place between the Ugandan army and the fighters of the so called Uganda's opposition al-Rabb army.

In a statement to pressmen Lt. Gen. Manaya described the situation in areas where the fighting is taking place between the Ugandan army and al-Rabb army in southern Sudan as catastrophic as it resulted in the displacement of 4,000 Sudanese towards Jouba city, the capital of Baher al-Jabal province.

Manya explained following his visit to Baher al- Jabal province that the government could shelter 2000 displaced persons in Qamya camp in the outskirts of Jouba, noting that there are more than other 2000 displaced still suffer the consequences of the war and they are drastically in need of humanitarian aids.

Worthy mentioning that the Sudanese government permitted the Ugandan forces to chase the fighters of the so-called al-Rabb army in Southern Sudan, who kidnap women and children. They have become of great danger to Sudan after their contacts with the rebel movement led by John Garang.
