Tenet and a new security plan
Palestine-USA, Politics, 5/20/2002
The Israeli daily Haartez said Sunday that the chairman of the CIA George Tenet will, during the few coming days, invite heads of security intelligence in Egypt, Israel, Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Palestine to visit Washington.
The paper added, according to the Israeli radio that the invitation aims at crystallizing a new American security plan and to hold consultations to this effect, noting that the chairman of the Israeli Mossad Afraim Halevy will represent Israel to these consultation. It continued that it is not clear yet, if the security officials will hold joint talks or not.
Worthy mentioning that Tenet has postponed a visit to the region because he could not crystallize a clear plan concerning conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories and also because of Israel's rejection to convene a meeting between him ( Tenet) and the chairman of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat.
American sources expected that Tenet will head to the Middle East within one week.
