Egypt, Local, 5/18/2002
Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak will open in the next few days temples and galleries in the archaeological island of Kalabsha in Aswan after their restoration finished at a cost of LE 20 million.
Minister of Culture Farouk Hosni and Secretary-General of the Supreme Council of Antiquities (SCA) Zahi Hawas will pay a visit to Aswan Saturday to follow up the final touches in the project in preparation for President Mubarak's visit.
The minister said the project involved restoration and rejuvenation of four Pharaonic and Roman temples:
Kalabsha Temple, Beitel-Wali, Beitel-Walada and Garf Hussein of Ramses II which Egyptian experts re-built since its rescue within the UNESCO campaign in the 1960s.
