Mubarak to review the results of the Egyptian-Libyan committee meetings

Egyptian President Mubarak today receives Imbaraka Shamekh, Secretary of the General People's Committee in Libya and Prime Minister Dr. Atef Ebeid who will brief him on the results of the meetings of the joint Higher Egyptian Libyan committee and ways of enhancing bilateral cooperation mainly in the field of joint ventures.

The President will also review the results of the visit paid by the Libyan delegation to Egypt.

During the meeting, the President will give directives to the joint higher committee to eliminate all obstacles hindering cooperation at the commercial and investment levels and ways of carrying out what was agreed upon during the President's meeting with Libyan president Muammar Gaddafi.

Following the President's meeting, Egypt and Libya will sign 11 executive programs and protocols for enhancing cooperation in the fields of exportation development, health, roads, Wakfs, administrative development, tourism and manpower.

Prime Minister Atef Ebeid told A1 Ahram that the committee would adopt a number of measures for carrying out joint ventures mainly extending a land road from East Owainat to Gaghboub Oasis for facilitating transport of commodities, products and labour.

The Prime Minister said that the committee will look into the agreements on trade and customs signed by the two countries for reactivating inter trade and joint investments.

He said that the Egyptian and Libyan governments would assign private sector in both states with playing a vital role in developing economic relations, during the meeting which will be held by Eng. Imbaraka A1 Shamekh with Egyptian and Libyan businessmen today.

Ebeid said that the Cabinet will discuss in its meeting on Tuesday the results of the joint higher committee and measures taken for cultivating 500,000 feddans in Wadi Halfa through Libyan investments.

He said the Cabinet would also review the administrative, financial structures of the project which aims at extending cultural services to the sons of Egypt, Libya and the Sudan.
