Sahrawi association calls those who strayed to return to homeland
Morocco, Politics, 5/18/2002
The Association of Victims of Human Rights Violations in "Polisario" Prisons called the "Saharans who have strayed" to return to the "clement and forgiving" homeland.
The association reminds "its brothers, particularly the Polisario leaders" the tortures and massacres they, and their relatives, faced all along 30 years of the artificial conflict.
The association, which considers that the conflict instigators unmasked their true face with the territory partitioning idea that was rejected by all authentic sahrawis, insists that actually "it is Algeria that controls the separatists by promising its supporters key positions and excluding authentic Sahrawis through torture and physical liquidation."
It cited several instances where officials of the separatist movement were replaced by persons faithful to Algeria in order to dominate the movement, as was the case with the recent mysterious death of the Polisario representative in London.
The statement released as the Algeria-backed separatist movement is marking the anniversary of its creation on May 20, also calls those who were led astray to reconsider their stand and return to their home country, Morocco.
