Yemeni tribes warn of any American strike; the aim is strategic and not al-Qaida

Some 14 Yemeni tribes on Friday stressed they do not shelter any members of al-Qaida network and warned the US against launching any military operation in Yemen.

The Yemeni tribes in the provinces of Mareb and al-Jouf to the north- east of Yemen expressed in a statement that they have no wanted members of al-Qaida organization in the provinces of Mareb and al-Jouf to the north- east of Yemen.

The statement said that "the tribes refuse all attempts of distortion against them and their areas and warn of making them a victim for political or strategic reasons." The statement also stressed that " we have had announced our complete readiness to dealing with specialized authorities and sides concerned to fighting terrorism to prove the heart of the matter in these provinces and that they are innocent from what others want to groundless accusations."

The statement which was issued by the alliance of Maerb and al-Jouf tribes on Friday warned that targeting any of the areas or the tribes will drag the country to bad conditions and its damages will be on all. The statement also stressed "the involvement of any international forces especially the US on what has been rumored of striking a certain area will be eventually a grave strategic mistake, rejected and is not in the confines of fighting terrorism."

The statement warned the US from being dragged into military acts of a real aim of settling political calculations in these tribal areas under the pretext of fighting terrorism.
