Lahoud confers with UN representative to south Lebanon

Lebanese President Emi Lahoud on Friday at Baabda palace received the UN secretary general representative to the south Lebanon Steven De Mistora and Gen. Lalit Tiowari, Commander of UNIFIL.

Discussions dealt with the general situation in south Lebanon and the work of UNIFIL and cooperation existed between it and the Lebanese armed forces and official administrations.

De Mistora explained he was keen to visit Baabda palace together with UNIFIL commander to meet with President Lahoud and thank him officially for the support UNICEF receives in south and to inform him the satisfaction of the UN over the efforts made by President Lahoud to strengthen stability in south Lebanon.

De Mistora said that the meeting was an occasion to deal with several common issues and to hear President Lahoud's views concerning current developments, locally and regionally.
