President Chirac meets Morocco's Prince Moulay Rachid

President Jacques Chirac of France received on Thursday in Paris Prince Moulay Rachid, younger brother of King Mohammed VI.
Prince Moulay Rachid renewed to president Chirac the congratulations of King Mohammed VI on the occasion of his official swearing in on Thursday for a second term as President of France.
King Mohammed VI had sent a congratulations message to President Chirac following his re-election.
The sovereign underscored that by voting for Chirac, the French people showed their adherence to the values of freedom, tolerance and fraternity.
The sovereign also said he is convinced that Chirac's re-election will further consolidate joint action by the two countries on the international scene, singling out the "worrying and tragic situation" in the Middle East. The royal message further stressed that tireless efforts by the two countries together with the international community will contribute to the emergence in the Mediterranean basin of a region of peace, understanding and stability and bring about a harmonious development for its people.
"Thanks to their shared attachment to understanding between cultures and civilizations, Morocco and France are prone to continue to fully play their role for a new spirit of solidarity between the North and the South in order to efficiently fight the poverty and marginalization that affect Africa in particular, a continent to which Morocco and France, grant a special interest," the sovereign said, after he expressed will to carry on endeavours jointly with the French president to give renewed dynamic to the excellent relations binding the two countries.
