Bahrain: large participation in complementary municipal elections
Bahrain, Politics, 5/17/2002
The Bahraini voters on Thursday headed for the voting ballots to choose 20 members in the second session of the municipal elections in Bahrain for which no candidates of women, nor the national trends had won and was limited to candidates from the Sunni, Shiite, Islamic and independent trends.
All results of the elections will be announced officially today during a press conference to be held by the minister of justice and Islamic affairs in Bahrain.
Meantime, the security forces had installed barriers to facilitate the entry of voters and to prevent interference against voters by the candidates and this was in response to the several complaints made following the elections of the first session which were held on May 9th.
