Iraq criticizes UN new sanctions list

The Iraqi ambassador to the UN Muhammad al-Douri on Wednesday criticized the UN Security Council resolution no. 1409 concerning the newly modified sanctions law imposed on Iraq.

In an interview with the Qatari TV satellite station al-Jazeera, al-Douri added that what is called commodities of double- use list is very long and damaging to the Iraqi economy and its future and directly damaging the Iraqi people.

The Iraqi ambassador continued that the measures annexed to the resolution are long and complex and only aim at obstructing reaching humanitarian items in particular and other products, in general.
