Morocco-Palestine, Culture, 5/14/2002

The 6th Moroccan song spring festival, to be held this May 17-18 in Marrakesh, will be dedicated to the Palestinian cause, said the free union of Moroccan musicians which is sponsoring the event.

The event will highlight with the presence of Ahmed Jamal Ad-Doura, father of Mohamed, whose killing by Israeli soldiers was broadcast by TVs around the world.

The child-martyr's father will attend the signing of a book titled "Mohamed Jamal Ad-Doura and Al-Aqsa Intifadah."

A contest for songs on Palestine will reward the best song from among 25 new songs never featured before in any festival.

Winners will get a cash prize (between US$ 1,000 and US$ 3,000) and exemption from eliminatory heats for the 5th Arab song festival in Casablanca.

The Moroccan Song spring festival also features numerous cultural, poetry and arts events and the awarding of the golden lute prize.
