Call to modernize Egypt; Osama el-Baz: Sharon rejects negotiations on final status
Egypt, Politics, 5/13/2002
Within the framework of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's call to modernize Egypt, the Secretariat General of the National Democratic Party (NDP) at Giza organized a conference on Modernization of University Education, in cooperation with Cairo University, under the auspices of Youssef Wali , Mofid Shehab, and the Chairmanship of Naguib El-Hilaly, President of Cairo University.
President Mubarak's political adviser Osama El-Baz said that the power of the countries is now assessed in accordance with their human resources, not the natural resources.
This is the reason that Japan enjoys an advanced level, although it lacks any natural resources.
We therefore should take this matter very seriously, and develop our human resources through paying enough attention to education.
We shouldn't focus on the quantity of information given to the students, but rather on the way of thinking.
On the Palestinian issue, Dr. El-Baz said that majority of the Palestinians accept to establish their state on the green line, i.e., the pre-June 1967 borders.
The situation now is that the present Israeli Prime Minister doesn't want to attain the stage of negotiations on the final status of the Palestinian territories.
