Sit-in staged in Rabat in solidarity with Palestinian children
Morocco-Palestine, Culture, 5/11/2002

A group of Moroccan Ngos activists for children's rights organized on Thursday a sit-in in front of the United Nations Information Bureau Thursday in solidarity with the Palestinian children.

The demo denounced the crimes perpetrated by the Israeli army against Palestinian children, particularly in the refugee camp of Jenine.

Waving Palestinian flags and banners denouncing Israel's crimes and the world community's silence over the Palestinian tragedy, participants shouted slogans calling for the protection of Palestinian children.

They also sent protest letters to president of the National Observatory for Children's Rights, princess Lalla Meryem, to UN secretary general, Kofi Annan, and to UNICEF director, Carol Bellamy.

The sit-in was held as the 27th extraordinary session of the United Nations General Assembly dedicated to children is convening May 8-10 in New York.
