Saudi forces conclude maneuvers near the Jordanian borders

Morocco to host Euro-Mediterranean meeting on child's rights
After she surveyed the progress scored worldwide with regard to improving the indicators related to children's survival and development, such as reducing child mortality rate, eradicating several killer diseases, and increasing children's schooling rate and after she renewed Morocco's unfailing resolve to carry on efforts at the service of childhood issues, she noted however that "during the past decade, a new problematic and worrying phenomena affected large numbers of children, who are threatened by ill-treatment, and by all sorts of odious exploitation, especially economic and sexual exploitation."

An explosion in a restaurant in north Lebanon

The secretary general of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Abdul Rahman Bin Hamad al-Ateyah has announced that the special session of the GCC ministerial council will be held May 12 in al-Riyadh at the request proposed by Saudi Arabia. Al-Ateyah added that the GCC foreign ministers will be meeting in Riyadh for one day in order to discuss current developments taking place at the regional and international arenas and to coordinate stances among the GCC member states on means of challenging these developments especially in the occupied Arab territories and the continued Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people.

The US Senate has passed a law which bans the citizens of states that the US State Department accuses of supporting terrorism from entering the USA and to tighten control on foreign students. The countries effected by this decision are Cuba, Iraq, Libya, Syria, Sudan, and Northern Korea which are accused by the US state department officially of supporting terrorism. Citizens of these countries can only travel to the US as emigrants. Statistics issued by the US Congress say that 16,000 of the citizens of Iran, Iraq, Sudan, Libya and Syria came to the US as students during the past ten years.
