Egyptian exports increase to some markets

A recent report on the activities of the Egyptian trade representation offices abroad pointed to a significant surge ranging between 27-100 per cent in Egyptian exports to a number of foreign markets, including: Canada, Russia, India, Oman, south Africa and Zambia.

The report said that the Egyptian trade representation offices abroad have succeeded in providing exports opportunities for the Egyptian products such as leather, clothes, yarn, photocopy machines, aluminium, light equipment, fertilizers, vegetables, rice and edible oils to the US, Norway, Greece, Turkey, Germany, India, Saudi Arabia, Tunisia, Algeria, Libya, Zambia and Oman.

The Washington office probed means of increasing Egypt's export quota of ready-to-wear clothes and textiles to the US.

Additionally, and in the field of investment, the office also tackled with an American company means of its participation in the establishment of the natural gas pipeline between Egypt and Jordan, the report added.

The report further said that the trade representation office in Lusaka succeeded, for the first time, in exporting Egyptian products of batteries, pesticides, fertilizers and edible oils.

The report added that the trade representation department is currently following up executive steps for exporting.
