Abyad- Aswad the first political periodical in Syria

The Syrian prime minister Muhammad Mustafa Miro offered the first licensing for a comprehensive political weekly bearing the name ( Abyad- Aswad ) "Black and White," in addition to licensing another magazine specialized in computer affairs. Thereby number of periodicals which have been so far licensed according to the new legislative decree of the press law in Syria increased to four, but not one of them has been yet, published.

According to well-informed sources the "Syrian prime minister issued on April 28 a decision under number 2313 according to which Muhammad Bilal Turkmani got the licensing to issue a cultural- political weekly to be issued in Damascus in the Arabic language," just after three months of the licensing request.

In another decision bearing number 2382, issued on May 2nd, Miro agreed to the licensing for Laila Bakri Aqqad, a woman teacher at the press department at Damascus university, to issue a monthly magazine under the name "computer and the society" to be issued in Damascus in the Arabic language.

The Syrian cabinet approved on March 4 and 6 respectively to license Abdul Latif Aaboud to issue a monthly from Damascus charged in "insurance and development" affairs and another for Mrs. Zeina Kheir to issue a specialized advertising weekly under the name al-Wasila (the means).

However, none of these mass media has been published yet. According to enforced regulations of printed materials, the licensing become null if the periodical will not be published within three months from getting its license.
