Egypt-Regional, Politics, 5/9/2002
At its meeting Tuesday under Prime Minister Atef Ebeid, the cabinet underlined the need for convening the proposed peace conference with the participation of all parties concerned, especially Palestinian leader Yasser Arafat.

It was important to maintain the Unity of Palestinian action and agree on a clear definition of future steps as regards movement at the international level to make a definite outline of the future of the peace process.
The cabinet stressed the importance of moving to revive the peace process on the following principles:
1- Israel should withdraw its forces from all occupied territories in compliance with Security Council and general assembly resolutions and restore conditions to what they were before the Israeli onslaught (on Palestinian territories)
2- Clear commitment to Madrid terms of reference and Security Council and General Assembly resolutions.
3- Commitment to the Land-for-Peace principle and all agreements signed by the parties.
4- All parties concerned, which have territories under Israeli occupation, should be invited to attend the proposed peace conference and Palestine should be represented by the legal Palestinian authority represented by President Yasser Arafat.
This was the correct course to realise an overall and just peace in the Middle East area, maintain world security and stability and preserve the rights and interests of all peoples in the area.
The Minister of Information presented to the cabinet at its meeting Tuesday under Prime Minister Atef Ebeid an analysis of Arab and international media.
