Lebanese resistance clash with the Israeli forces
Lebanon-Israel, Military, 5/8/2002
The Lebanese national resistance has announced that its fighters clashed on Tuesday with Israeli soldiers through the borders by machine guns fire.
In a statement issued on Tuesday evening, the Lebanese resistance said that at 1.30 p.m. the resistance men retaliated an Israeli armed vehicle which opened fire at one of the Lebanese observation points near Bawabat Rmeish in the central sector where a limited clash took place by machine guns fire.
The statement warned the Israeli forces against the consequences of attacking any resistance man, noting that any such agreement will not pass unpunished.
However, Monday's incidents is considered the first of its kind to take place between the Lebanese resistance and the occupation forces away from the Shebaa farms since the withdrawal of the Israeli forces from south Lebanon and the western Bekaa in May 2000.
