Al-Qaddafi, Prodi discuss prospects of European- African cooperation

Libyan President Muammar al-Qaddafi discussed with the chairman of the European Commission Romano Prodi in a telephone call on Tuesday prospects of cooperation relations between the European Union and the African federation and means of strengthening and developing them.
During the telephone call, the two sides discussed cooperation issues relating to countries overlooking the Mediterranean as well as regional and international issues of mutual concern.
On the other hand, the secretary general of the people's committee for African unity in Libya Ali Abdul Salaam al-Tureiki in Tripoli on Tuesday discussed with the secretary general of the Organization of African Unity (OAU) in Tripoli Ama Ricey measures, and results of the meetings the organization held recently in the frame work of preparations for building the structures and establishments of the African federation.
The two sides reviewed contacts and activities carried out by the organization at all levels, and the visiting official expressed his appreciation for the role played by Libya in working to maintain the unity and progress of the African continent.
OAU chief arrived in Tripoli on Tuesday evening together with an accompanying delegation in a visit to Libya which will last for several day.
