UN suspends activities in Makadishu

The UN in Nairobi has announced the suspension of all its activities in Makadishu as from Tuesday because of kidnapping one Somali employee working in one of its agencies since April 28th.
In a statement, the coordinator of humanitarian affairs in Somalia Maxwell Gerald and the representative of the UN program for development said that this measure comes in protest of rejecting to release Muhammad Ali Abu Kour, one of the UNDP representative who was kidnapped by unidentified gunmen.
The statement stressed that the UN is concerned for the health conditions of the said employee.
