21 Dutch agencies request Gov. to halt exporting arms to Israel
Palestine-European Union, Politics, 5/6/2002
Twenty-one Dutch agencies demanded closure of air transits between the US and Israel which are used for transporting arms via Holland.
The agencies, led by the Churches Council, filed an emergency suit against the Dutch government, demanding the closure of air and sea transits at Sekhbiole airport and Roterdam seaport, against the crossing of US and European planes and ships with arms cargos to Israel via Holland.
They also called for halting all kinds of arms and military equipment to Israel including F-16 planes, radar and air traffic control systems and sophisticated tanks.
The legal suit confirms that the Dutch government violates the European agreement that bans exporting arms to areas of tensions and disputes worldwide.
