Bahrain chases after an escaped naval officer
Bahrain, Local, 5/6/2002

The Kingdom of Bahrain has asked the Interpol ( International Police) to help in chasing an officer at the Bahraini ministery of the interior who fled from the country just after the beginning of an investigation into his financial records.

In a statement, issued by the Bahraini dailies on Sunday, the ministry of the interior said that Col. Adel Fuleifel left the kingdom on Friday just two days after the beginning of investigations with him by a ministerial investigation committee and this was despite a decision preventing him from traveling.

Worthy mentioning that Fuleifel is the first high ranking army officer interrogated under charges of having illegal income since King Hamad Bin Issa al-Khaleifa assumed office in 1999.
