Iraq and handling the Kuwaiti archive
Iraq-Kuwait, Politics, 5/6/2002
Iraq has informed the Arab League on Saturday that in implementation of the Arab League resolutions of the recent Beirut summit, the Iraqi foreign ministry, in coordination with other Iraqi ministries and authorities concerned collected documents relating to the national archive of Kuwait and other documents pertinent to Kuwait to return them back to Kuwait.
This was expressed in the message sent by the Iraqi foreign minister Naji Sabri to the Secretary General of the Arab League Amr Moussa who in his turn conveyed this Iraqi measure to Kuwait and to the Lebanese foreign minister Mahmoud Hamoud, to be debated for the Arab summit presidium.
In a statement he made on Saturday in Cairo, Moussa indicated that the Iraqi government asked him in his capacity as a secretary general of the Arab League to ensure the return back of the national archive to Kuwait, describing this development as important in the relations between the two states.
