Morocco, Qatar study bilateral free trade
Morocco-Qatar, Economics, 5/4/2002

Contacts are under way between Morocco and Qatar for the creation of a bilateral free trade zone, Qatari ambassador to Morocco, Sakr Mubarak Al-Mansouri, said Friday.

The outcome of the meeting May 6-7 in Rabat of the Moroccan-Qatari High Joint Commission will serve the interests of the two brotherly countries, Al-Mansouri, told MAP news agency.

Several accords will be signed during the Commission's meetings, he said, adding that the encounter's agenda features issues pertaining to economy, trade, investment, energy, transport, communication, agriculture, health, education, sports and culture.

The diplomat stressed the need for Morocco and Qatar to develop their cooperation in all fields. He noted that his embassy grants a keen interest to encouraging contacts between Moroccan and Qatari businessmen.

The Moroccan-Qatari High Joint Commission will be co-chaired by Moroccan foreign affairs and cooperation minister, Mohamed Benaissa, and Qatari peer, Sheikh Hamad Bin Jasem Bin Jabr Al-Thani.
