No evidence on the meeting between Muhammad Ata with an Iraqi officials
Iraq-USA, Politics, 5/4/2002

The USA said it does not have any evidence on a meeting between Muhammad Ata, the man suspected to be involved in the attacks of September 11 with any Iraqi official in the Czech capital Prague in April 2001. A matter which weaken the links made by the US administration to link between Baghdad and the attacks against Washington and News York.

An American official said that after the attacks in which high-jacked passengers plane was used, reports rumored that a meeting was made between Ata and the Iraqi diplomat Ahmad Khalail Ibrahim Sameer al-Ani in Prague in April 2001.

But after further investigations, the authorities did not find any evidence to prove such a meeting occured. The official who asked not to be identified said "we do not have evidence on him ( Ata ) meeting with al-Ani in April 2001 as the Czech predicted before." He added "there is no evidence he had left the US or he arrived back in the US. In the past he used to travel under his own real name and it was possible to follow his moves."

Several officials from the administration of the US President George Bush have pressed for a move to topple the Iraqi President Saddam Hussein. Linking between Saddam and the attacks of September 11 would have strengthened this attitude.
