Al-Assad chairs Baath party meeting on latest developments

The central command of the National Progressive Front of the Baath party in Syria held a meeting on Thursday evening at the Damascus al-Shaab palace under the chairmanship of President Bashar al-Assad.
The participants in the meeting "discussed latest developments on the regional and international developments especially on the Palestinian arena where the Palestinians are exposed to ugliest brutal aggressions conducted by Israel."
The Syrian central command "commended the steadfastness of the Palestinian people and their heroic Intifada," stressing that the sacrifices given by the Palestinian people should not go priceless and the need to enhance the steadfastness of the Palestinians and their Intifada to continue the struggle "against the Israeli aggression." The leadership discussed the results of the Arab summit conference recently held in Beirut and the tasks and responsibilities required by the current phase.
The National Progressive Front's leadership also lauded the policy of modernization and renovation pursued at the directives of President Bashar al-Assad and concentrated in particular on the importance of implementing decisions, and decrees issued to this effect, covering banking, economic and developmental projects. The leadership also underlined "the importance of developmental progress and promoting work mechanism so as to achieve set objectives."
