Mubarak, Zayed meeting reflects their important role
United Arab Emirates-Egypt, Politics, 5/2/2002
A senior UAE official said the meeting held on Tuesday between President Hosni Mubarak and Sheikh Zayed reflects the important role played by both leaders at such tough conditions the region is going through.
Interviewed by Sawt Al-Arab Radio by telephone from Abu Dabi, the UAE official said consultations between the two leaders serve national and international issues.
Also, in an interview with the radio, Egypt's Ambassador to UAE Fahmy Fayed said talks between the two leaders covered the latest developments in the Arab region, especially the deteriorating conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
"The talks also tackled coordination among Arab countries at this stage in order to reach a unified Arab stance," he said.
The two sides have reached an agreement on exerting efforts on the international arena and in the United Nations to reach a solution to the Palestinian cause, asserting the importance of having Israel respect the international law and the United Nations charter.
