Vedrine hopes Sharon will relaunch peace with Palestinians

The French foreign minister Hubert Vedrine has expressed his hope that the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon will agree to relaunch a political process with the Palestinians.
A statement issued on Monday by the French foreign ministry quoted Vedrine as expressing this desire during a telephone call with his US counterpart Colin Powell, who ( Powell) telephoned him to review the situation in the Middle East.
