Yemen-USA, Local, 4/30/2002
The American embassy in Sanaa on Monday resumed its activities following a six- day closure following information on an attack targeting it.
An American diplomat told the press that the consulate department at the embassy resumed its activities to grant visas and that work is being limited and not in the normal activity, while security measures still continue around the embassy.
On Sunday evening an explosion took place and was followed by intensive fire in Habra quarters, 1.5 Km from the premises of the American embassy to the northern east of Sanaa.
A Yemeni security source said that no details on the incident were given. People who live in the said quarters where life seemed to be normal, said "It was a routine incident."
