Al-Assad underlines importance of cooperation, foundation of Arab common market

Syria's President Bashar al-Assad on Sunday in Damascus received the secretary general of the Arab economic unity council Ahmad Jweili. The meeting was attended by the minister of economy and foreign trade Ghassan al-Refa'e.
Discussions dealt with areas of regional cooperation and the initiatives taken by the economic unity council in order to accelerate the Arab common market economic integration cycle.
Al-Assad underlined the importance of revitalizing work of the Arab economic unity council so as to found the Arab common market.
Al-Assad also received on Sunday a delegation representing the Arab Businessmen Council chaired by the federations's head Hamdi al-Tabaa. Minister al-Refa'e attended the meeting.
Al-Assad listened from al-Tabaa to a revision on the results of works of the Arab businessmen and investors forum. The president noted the significant role played by the private sector in collaboration with the government in creating economic stability and ensuring new job opportunities.
Al-Assad also underlined the importance of achieving the Arab common market noting that not having this common market fully founded will place "the Arabs among the losers when joining larger economic aggregations in the world."
