Tunisia, Politics, 4/29/2002

The Tunisian prime minister Muhammad al-Ghanoushe has announced that the Tunisian President Zein al-Abidin Bin Ali on Saturday made a government reshuffle that covered in particular, the ministry of the interior.

This amendment which concentrates on the ministry of the interior, comes just two weeks after the explosion which took place on April 11 in front of al-Gharbeyah synagogue ( Jarba Island in the southern of Tunisia) which resulted in killing 16 persons including 11 German tourists and three Tunisians and persons carrying both the French and Tunisian nationality and one French.

Al-Hadi Mahni, former minister of social affairs and labor was appointed instead of Abdullah al-Kaabi who left the government. President Bin Ali also appointed Muhammad al-Hadi as a director general for national security instead of Muhammad Ali al- Ghanzou'i. The former minister and chairman of the social and economic council al-Shazili al-Nafa'i assumed the post of the ministry of social affairs used to be run by Mahni.
