Palestinian leaders and Moufaz's threats
Syria-Israel, Military, 4/29/2002
The London- based al-Hayat daily said in on Saturday that the chairman of the political bureau of the Islamic resistance movement Hamas, Khaled Mashaal, the secretary general of the Islamic Jihad, Ramadan Abdullah Shalah, and the secretary general of the People's Front For the Liberation of Palestine- general command- Ahmad Jibril, who are in Syria have not changed their moves after the statements made by the Israeli army chief of staff Shaoul Moufaz that they are targeted by Israel.
In a statement to al-Hayat issued on Saturday, Shalah said "we are taking Moufaz's threats seriously and we know we are targeted continuously by the Israelis but this was not reflected in new security measures and we have not received any thing new from the Syrians to this effect."
Shalah continued that the position of the al-Jihad movement has not changed concerning the "martyrdom operations," however, the resistance is passing a difficult time because of the "killing of several Palestinian militants, detaining others and isolating the Palestinian areas from each other, and therefore the Palestinian resistance is in the phase of defending itself against the fierce Zionist attack and has not yet moved to phase of attacking ( the Israelis )."
