Iraq's foreign minister in Moscow
Iraq-Russia, Politics, 4/29/2002
The Iraqi foreign minister Naji Sabri on Sunday arrived in Moscow in a visit which lasts for three days.
In an arrival statement to the press, Sabri said he will discuss with his Russian counterpart Igor Ivanovich the sanctions imposed on Iraq and resisting the abnormal conditions the Iraqi people are suffering as well as bilateral relations between the two countries and means of developing them and issues of mutual concern.
He stressed that relations between Moscow and Baghdad are based on basics of friendship and cooperation and are developing forward and that the evidence on that is his current visit to federal Russia.
Replying to a question on threats of using force against Iraq, Sabri said it would be better "if you ask those who are planning these operations and from our side I can say firmly that we are ready to defend ourselves at any time."
