Yemen: threats keep US embassy closed till Monday

The US state department said on Friday that the US embassy in Yemen will continue to be closed at least until Monday following threats of terrorist acts.

The spokeswoman for the US state department Lein Castle said that the embassy which has been closed to the public since last Tuesday will reconsider its security condition later to decide on whether the embassy will resume its normal activity or whether there will be further delay.

On Monday the US warned against a possible "terrorist attack" this week against American interests in Yemen and announced temporary closure for its embassy in Sanaa.

On Wednesday, the US state department, for its part warned against a possible terrorist attack against its interests or American civilians in the Gulf region.
