Iraq demands end to UN sanctions
Iraq-International, Politics, 4/27/2002
Iraq intends to ask the UN in the forthcoming round of talks to lift the sanctions imposed on it and to honor its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In its Friday's issue, the Iraqi daily al-Thawra quoted the Iraqi foreign minister Naji Sabri as saying that this request will be on top of the agenda of the meeting to be held in May at the UN headquarters in new York between him and the UN secretary General Kofi Annan.
Worthy mentioning that the meeting between Sabri and Annan was due on April ( this month) 18 and 19 but Baghdad asked for postponing it because of the conditions in the occupied Palestinian territories.
