Handball: Morocco qualify for world cup
Morocco, Sports, 4/26/2002
Morocco on Wednesday defeated Angola 31-17 to make it to the semi final of the African handball championship and to the World Cup, due next year in Portugal.
The Moroccans dominated the Angolan side all along the match, developing a sublime play.
They join fellow North Africans: Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt to the semi final of the African Championships that Morocco hosts in Casablanca.
This is the fifth time that Morocco qualify for the world cup. But the Moroccans are determined to break what they call "fourth rank complex," referring to the fourth rank that they never exceeded in African championships.
They will play Algeria on Friday, while Tunisia meet Egypt.
