Saudi Arabia does not think of using oil as a weapon against the US
Saudi Arabia-USA, Politics, 4/26/2002
A spokesman for the Saudi embassy in the USA said that the kingdom does not think of using oil as a weapon and will not support Iraq's decision to halt oil exports to the US.
The Saudi foreign policy advisor Adel al-Jubeir told the press "oil is not a weapon. Oil is not a tank."
Replying to a question on whether there will be any condition in which Saudi Arabia will think of supporting the halt of Iraqi oil exports to the USA, Nael al-Jubeir, the spokesman for the Saudi embassy told journalists who are covering news on the meeting between Bush and crown prince Abdullah that such a condition will not take place. He added that Saudi Arabia is ready to increase its production "whenever it is necessary." He continued "we have been always a reliable source... We will always try to make a balance between for a price level for producers and consumers," noting that at the meantime oil prices are within this confine.
Al-Jubeir said that the Saudi crown prince warned President Bush that American relations with the Arab states will be endangered if Israel will not convince the Israeli prime minister Ariel Sharon to end his occupation of the Palestinian territories.
