Lebanon asks the UN to stop Israel's violations
Lebanon-Israel, Politics, 4/26/2002

The Lebanese foreign minister Mahmoud Hammoud has announced that Lebanon had sent a message of protest to the UN secretary general against Israel over its continued violations of the Lebanese airspace and the Lebanese sovereignty.

In a statement he made on Thursday Hammoud called on the UN to shoulder its responsibility to halt the Israeli violations.

He explained that the Lebanese foreign ministry had summoned the personal envoy of the UN chief in south Lebanon Stevan De Mistora to convey this protest to him.

The Israeli warplanes on Thursday continued its violations and provocative sorties in the Lebanese airspace in south lebanon.

In a statement, the Lebanese army leadership said that four Israeli warplanes violated the Lebanese airspace headed towards the north until Skakka town and then headed to the West outside the atmospheres of the Lebanese territorial waters.
