US General Francs arrives in Kuwait

On April 23rd, chief of the central leadership of the American army Gen. Tommy Francs started a visit to Kuwait to inspect the American forces positioned there after these forces concluded military maneuvers with the Kuwaiti army.
Francs who assumed the leadership of the American forces in the region, including Afghanistan said he considers Kuwait as "his second country." He commended Kuwait's position concerning the war against terrorism. He visited earlier Saudi Arabia and Egypt.
Since September 11, the number of the American forces in the Gulf region and central Asia increased from 25,000 to 80,000. On the Kuwaiti borders with Iraq, this number doubled from almost 5,000 to 10,000 soldiers.
