European MPs: Israel committed massacre in Jenin

European MPs condemned on Wednesday the massacres carried out by Israeli forces against the Palestinian people.

A-19 member European parliamentarian delegation, currently on a visit to Palestine, said the Israeli sweep of the Jenin refugee camp is a war crime.

The delegation head said following an inspection tour of the camp on Tuesday, the visit aimed at asserting that the majority of the European parliament and European public opinion strongly condemned Israeli premier Ariel Sharon's policy, adding the situation in the camp was totally unacceptable.

The European deputies also condemned the systematic devastation of infrastructure of the Palestinian territories and the humanitarian tragedy inflicted on the Palestinians.

The delegation denounced as well the arrest of Fatah organization Secretary in the West Bank, Marwan Barghouthi on April 15 as an "illegal" act.
