Egypt's imports from U.S. hit $ 417 million in Feb

A recent U.S. statistic on trade cooperation with Egypt read that Egypt received imports from U.S. at a value of $ 416.88 million while the Egyptian imports to the U.S. reached $ 50.49 million.

Foodstuffs, livestock and mechanical tools came on top of U.S. exports to Egypt while the Egyptian exports comprised no petroleum raw materials, cotton and T-shirts.

Meanwhile, a high-level economic delegation will visit Washington on Monday to meet senior US officials, intellectuals and representatives from the private sector, in order to familiarize them with the latest economic developments in Egypt, chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce Mohamed Mansour said yesterday.

The team of 25 is mainly American businessmen investing in Egypt. Mansour said that it is important at this particular time for US political and economic decision-makers to stay up to date with Egyptian business, and understand the dire consequences of the current deterioration of situation in the Middle East and how it affects US interests in the region.

He added that it is also time to hold official talks about the creation of a free trade agreement between Egypt and the US.

"Egyptian businessmen should convey a clear message to US officials that Egypt not only plays a vital role in the region, but also represents the stability of it," the Chamber Executive Director Hesham Fahmi added.
