Arab cities organization opens special account for Palestinian cities reconstruction

Participants in the 42nd session of the Organization of Arab Cities held in Amman earlier this week decided to open a special account for the reconstruction of the Palestinian cities destroyed by the Israeli occupation forces.

Representatives from 35 Arab cities, including Rabat and Marrakesh, called for further moral and material support to the city of Al Quds and its resistant inhabitants.

The organization secretariat general said the new account will also finance projects in the holy city of Al-Quds.

The organization was asked to get in touch with the municipality of Jenine and the refugee camps there to compile a detailed report on the losses they suffered following the Israeli aggression and to set the amount it will contribute to its reconstruction.

In the same connection, the organization called all the Arab cities to sign collective and immediate twinning agreements with the city of Jenine and its camps to contribute to the reconstruction of its basic infrastructures, destroyed by the occupier.

On the sidelines of the session, the organization fund agreed to grant the municipality of Marrakesh-Menara a loan to finance the construction of a municipal market.

The loan covers 80% of the overall cost of the project, worth 200 million Dirhams ($17.4 Mln).
