Jordan arrests five of the liberation party
Jordan, Politics, 4/25/2002

The Jordanian authorities have arrested five members of the banned "Islamic Liberation Party," while they continued organizing a campaign at the level of the country to pressure the government in order to send fighters to help the Palestinians.

The party's sources added that the security forces arrested activists from the Islamic liberaton party this week and circulated a petition to this effect in the country's mosques and universities bearing 4000 signatories.

The sources added that a delegation representing the Hizb al-Tahrir (Liberation party) handed the petition to the office of the Jordanian prime minister Ali Abu al-Ragheb on Monday. The petition read "liberating Palestine and salvation of its people from the Jews can not be by donations and denunciation, rather by preparing the force and moving the army for Jihad."

However, this petition was also addressed to the Jordanian army under the title "support your brothers in Palestine."
