Sudan, Chad sign cooperation agreement on fighting drug trafficking
Sudan-Chad, Politics, 4/24/2002
The Sudanese minister of the interior Lt. Gen. Abdul Rahim Muhammad Hussein has announced that his country had agreed with Chad to permit the Sudanese police forces to chase robbery and drug trafficking gangs inside the territories of Chad.
In a statement he submitted to the Sudanese national council ( the parliament) on Monday, the Sudanese minister of the interior said that drugs are considered the most vulnerable element of those violating security in the Sudanese Dar Foor southern provinces.
The Sudanese Dar Foor southern provinces are bordering the republic of Chad which produces 75% of Hashish consumed in Sudan, due to the fact this area is far and beyond the administrative control of the government.
