Ministerial reshuffle expected in Syria
Syria, Politics, 4/24/2002
The Kuwaiti daily al-Seyasah quoted well- informed high ranking Syrian sources as saying that President Bashar al-Assad asked the parties rallied under the ruling National Progressive Front which takes part in seven ministers in the Syrian government to nominate new alternative names.
The sources explained that this amendment will be the greatest in Syria's history and attributed its reasons to non- qualified certain ministers after evaluating their performance during the past six months.
The sources stressed that the expected reshuffle will target several independent ministers and other members in the Baath party and might target several key ministries especially the tremendous changes taking place in the ministries of information and the economy which are given special priority by President Bashar al-Assad.
