Alexandria chosen world book capital

Alexandria has been chosen world book capital as of April 23 for one year.
The decision was announced by the International Publishers Union as part of world celebrations of the International Book Day on April 23.
The choice was madee in recognition of Egypt's cultural and civilized role in the field of books and publication and in appreciation of Egypt for its efforts in reviving the Alexandria Library under the auspices of Mrs. Suzanne Mubarak.
On his part, Farouk Hosni, Minister of Culture, said that Alexandria would celebrate this by holding book fairs and cultural activities.
