Egypt hails Annan's proposal on multi-national force
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 4/23/2002

Ambassador Ahmed Abu al-Gheit, Egypt's Permanent Representative at the UN Security Council recently stressed the importance of the UN Secretary-General's proposal to send a multinational force to the occupied Arab territories.

In a weekly talk show transmitted by CNN, Abu al Gheit explained that such a force must be sent immediately to rescue the Palestinian lands and towns reoccupied by Israeli forces.

He also highlighted Kofi Annan's proposal, confirming that the force would definitely protect Palestinians and stop Israel from any further military incursions into areas controlled by the Palestinian National Authority.

UN Secretary General Kofi Annan earlier proposed the multi-national force to enable Palestinians to control matters and face off any radical groups.

According to Annan, the force would help Palestinians to exist, rule and gain recognition.
