Morocco renews will to endeavour for reviving mideast peace process

Morocco's King Mohammed VI renewed on Monday in Washington Morocco's will to endeavour for reviving the Middle-East peace process, the Royal Office said in a release.
The king, who was receiving US Secretary of State Colin Powell at his residence in Blair House in Washington, lauded Powell's efforts to find a political solution likely to put an end the tragedy that the Palestinian people are undergoing and to rapidly bring back the parties to negotiations after an immediate and unconditional withdrawal of the Israeli forces from the Palestinian territories.
Time is now for consultation, said King Mohammed VI, who highlighted the new prospects opened by the Arab peace initiative unanimously adopted by the Arab Summit, held end of last march in Beirut (Lebanon).
Bilateral cooperation in political, economic and cultural realms was also studied by King Mohammed and Secretary of State Powell. The king underlined the importance Morocco grants to the strategic partnership existing between Morocco and the USA.
Powell was accompanied by assistant secretary in charge of the Middle East affairs, Jim Larocco, under secretary in charge of diplomatic and public affairs, Richard Boucher, assistant executive to the Secretary of State, Creig Kelly, director of the Middle East department, Bill Stanton, charg? of the affairs of the Kingdom of Morocco, Matthew Pourl, and ambassador of the United states to Morocco, Ms Margaret Tutwiler.
On the Moroccan side the audience was attended by minister of foreign affairs and cooperation, Mohamed Benaissa, and Director of the royal office, Mohamed Rochdi Chraibi.
King Mohammed VI, who arrived in Washington Sunday evening on a work visit to the United States, is scheduled to meet President George Walker Bush on Tuesday.
