Cairo: Six tried to sneak into Palestine
Egypt-Palestine, Politics, 4/23/2002
Security sources in Cairo said that the Egyptian authorities arrested 6 Egyptians including one girl carrying explosives before they could sneak to "the occupied Palestinian territories" to help the Palestinians in resisting the Israeli occupation last week.
The sources explained that the six men were arrested at the border area and they had admitted they were trying to cross to fight side by side with the Palestinians. The sources said that they did not have weapons, noting that the police arrested the girl near Taba on the border with "occupied Palestine," and that she was carrying primitive explosives.
The police also arrested a 25 year old girl near Rafah on the border with Gaza. Other 4 Egyptians aging between 16 to 30 were arrested in various areas near Rafah last Friday. The Israeli army killed one Egyptian youth last Tuesday as he was trying to cross the borders into the Palestinian territories.
On the other hand, an Egyptian young woman gave birth in al-Menya province to four twins named them Intisar, Palestine, Jihad and Arafat, as a salute to the Palestinian Intifada.
