On Arab economic integration

The secretary general of the Arab economic unity council Ahmad Jweili has stressed the ability of the Arab states to achieve economic integration, noting that that Arab states have competitive merits reflected in the service commerce and a strategic position.

In a lecture he delivered on Monday in Cairo at the diplomatic institute of the Egyptian foreign ministry Jweili called for activating inter Arab economic integration and concentration on maximizing the volume of inter- Arab trade, stressing that development is the base for stability.

Jweili indicated that the council is working to fill the gaps in the Arab economic work through adopting joint venture production projects and encouraging the foundation of Arab federations concerned and information technology, together with stressing the contribution of the private sector which the council considers as an umbrella.
